cringe

I'm pretty sure I was able to keep it inside, but ouch.

"How old is your baby?"

"Nine months."

"Oh, she's so tiiiiiiiiny."

It's not the first time someone has said that to me and usually I just think that they must all have gigantor babies or their babies are teenagers and they've forgotten or they're just not good judges of size.  I used to just shrug it off because for a long time Birdie was in the 95% for length and has the thighs to match.  Now?  Yeah, she's not that big percentage-wise any longer.  But she IS average (I don't want to look up the number.)

I know people don't mean anything by it, and blah, blah, blah, but I still shrink inside a little when I hear it.  My heart stops just for a second now when someone asks me how old my baby is and I wonder if she's comparing my baby to hers.  And I hate that I think about that at all.

I swear - people just say the most bizarre things.

All babies are teeny tiny to me because I am only used to me and my gigantor husband.

People are weird.

People just say stupid stuff.

LG is below average for his age, but he is below in both weight and height so he looks in proportion. Some old lady commented today how huge he is. I just smiled and nodded.

((hugs))

My sister had huge(!!) babies and felt horrible every time someone commented on their size ... "oh, wow, but (s)he is SOOOO BIIGGGG!" ... made her feel awful. I dunno but I'm guessing *Mom* guilt is similar to *IF* guilt in that we, as women, are never good enough when it comes to reproduction/motherhood in our own minds.

To hell with it!!

You are (fantastic, capable, wonderful) you. Birdie is Birdie -- unique to her own self, too. Only YOU know her -- like only a Mom can. Let others judge if they wish. You are a great Mom.

Please don't waste one minute on what other people think. I'm (finally - really) learning to let go of that. It is the only way. You ARE good enough. You ARE doing all the right things.

:)

people are rude...I have very large babies and from birth people feel the need to comment to me on their size. people would do better to think before they speak when it comes to things like this ((HUGS))
